A hearty post-Covid welcome to the return of the Ancient Skiers Association biennial banquet in Mountlake Terrace last night. October 28, 2022. Emceed by our board president, Ty Anderson, it was well attended by 120 members.
We were pleased to welcome our newest 90+ year old Emeritus member, Jim Carpenter, who had some amazing stories to tell of his early years of skiing, and on ski patrol .
Four new  well-deserved. Honorees were inducted into the PNW Skier Hall of Fame.
 Julia Webb. Originally learning to ski as a teen at Snoqualmie Pass, moved to Sun Valley in 1965 to teach skiing. 57 consecutive years as a PNSIA – INT Alpine level three ski instructor and still teaching.
 Ragnar, Ulland. Born into a family of ski jumpers in Norway, graduating from Roosevelt, high school in Seattle, at age 18, chosen to represent the US ski, jumping team at the 1956 Olympics.
Steve Ferkovich. Still patrolling, both volunteer and professional ski patrol going on 66 years and no plans yet to slow down. Mostly patrolling  at Crystal Mountain. Such a hard worker that the professional ski patrol had t-shirts printed with “Work like Ferk “
Dick Reiniger . A Nordic jumper and ski racer in high school and college, he volunteered over 42 years with a National Ski Patrol and active in search and rescue with Rascal, one of the first avalanche rescue dogs in the nation. Dick passed away January 2021, but was well represented by 16 of his family members.
